Universal Aviation expands to the Spanish Balearic Islands with a new location in Menorca

Universal Aviation, the global ground handling division of Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc., has announced the addition of its 10th Spanish ground handling facility in Menorca (LEMH).

Universal Aviation Spain – Menorca is in partnership with Andalucia Aviation. The site will remain locally under the Andalucia Aviation brand but will now come under the Universal Aviation network. This addition expands an earlier partnership between Universal Aviation and Andalucia Aviation. In January 2022, the two companies partnered on six ground handling locations including; Almeria (LEAM), Ciudad Real (LERL), Granada (LEGR), Jerez (LEJR), Malaga (LEMG) and Seville (LEZL). These sites joined the existing Universal Aviation Spain sites in Madrid (LEMD), Barcelona (LEBL) and Girona (LEGE), giving the network a total of 10 sites in Spain and 23 in total in Europe, the Middle East and in Africa.

“The Balearic Islands are one of the most popular and beautiful leisure destinations in the world,” said Gonzalo Barona, Jr., general manager of Universal Aviation Spain. “Island destinations are seeing record volumes. Based on the resounding success of our partnership with Andalucia Aviation, established earlier this year, we saw an opportunity to follow this model to work together to increase service levels, improve facilities, reduce transfers and reduce risk at Minorca.

The Universal Aviation Spain team is fluent in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Catalan and Minorcan. Facilities include a dedicated general aviation ramp, an on-site CIQ, crew and passenger lounges, and a prayer room.

“Despite Menorca’s high traffic volumes and immense popularity, on average we can facilitate turnarounds in 35 to 40 minutes,” Barona said.
