There will be 250 language assistants in public schools in the Balearic Islands next year, thanks to government subsidies.

The Department of Education and Vocational Training of the Government of the Balearic Islands, through the Directorate General for Early Childhood, Innovation and the Educational Community, is now launching its program of educational assistants for the school year 2022-2023. The program has a budget of €1,702,000, which will cover scholarships and insurance for language assistants. A total of 250 assistants participate in the program.

The continuation of the language assistant program this year is a response to the positive effect it has had previously in schools. Its aim is to promote foreign language skills through the provision of mother tongue assistants in publicly funded schools. Linguistic assistants will be distributed in public and contracted nursery, primary and secondary schools, but also in official language schools (EOI), integrated vocational training centers (CIFP), art schools (EA) and centers adult education (CEPA).

According to information published on June 13, there will be 202 English-language assistants in 247 schools, 33 German-language assistants in 58 schools and 15 French-language assistants in 28 schools.
