The director of German tour operator DER Touristik, Sven Schikarsky, said today that “there are currently more cancellations than new bookings” for trips to the Balearic Islands after Germany classified the islands as high risk area.
During a press conference after the meeting with the President of the Government, Francina Armengol, and accompanied by the Director General of Tourism, Rosana Morillo, Schikarsky explained that only 1% of holidaymakers currently in the Balearic Islands are opting for “a return to Germany earlier”.
“There are customers who want to extend their vacation in the Balearic Islands because they don’t want to go back to Germany and quarantine themselves,” he explained, then pointed out that the cancellations of family vacations “is not because of fearOf the destination but because of the obligation to quarantine on their return.
The director of the German tour operator said he was satisfied with the results of the meeting with the president and was “happy” to have visited the Balearic Islands because “we work very closely together”. “We work very well with the government because we have a lot of clients,” he said.
