Melia Hotels International set to double its portfolio in Greece

Spanish hotel giant Melia Hotels International aims to double its portfolio of hotels in Greece by 2025, the company’s head of development for Southern Europe said. Jorge Herrera.

Herrera announced the news during his visit to Greece for the IDEEA Hotel Investment Forum. “Greece is a destination of strategic importance for us at Melia Hotels International. We are looking to expand our presence in the country both through management partnerships and franchises with the aim of doubling the group’s properties in Greek territory by 2025,” said Herrera.

The group already operates four hotels in Greece: the Melia Athens, the Sol Cosmopolitan in Rhodes and in Crete the Sol Marina Beach Crete and the Blue Sea Beach.

The company is now interested in entering into new management and franchise agreements with the aim of expanding its business activities and direct online sales.

The plan focuses on working with independent hotels and gives them access to Melia Hotels International’s sales and marketing network, as well as 14 million members MeliaRewards rewards program and other services tailored to their needs.

At the same time, it seeks to provide consultancy services to hotels taking their first steps and to facilities that require renovation, assisting owners with everything from planning to operation.

The group specializes in leisure and hybrid leisure travel (a mix of business and leisure travel) and prioritizes sustainability and authentic experiences.

In this sense, the group went ahead with the design of the “travel for goodcampaign that aims to raise awareness and contribute to the sustainable development of the destinations in which it operates.
