MDA signs several agreements on the sidelines of Smart Cities Expo in Barcelona

MEDINA — The Al-Madinah Region Development Authority (MDA) has signed a number of agreements and MoUs with several national and international NGO agencies and private organizations on the sidelines of Smart Cities Expo in Barcelona.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), which aims to develop a framework for collaboration and joint work within the framework of global urban monitoring, the flagship program SDG Cities and the Human-Centered Smart Cities flagship program.

In addition, he agreed to collaborate in the organization of several forums such as the Smart Madinah Forum (2nd edition in 2023) and the World Urban Forum (12th edition, Cairo 2024).

MDA has also signed a cooperation agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) aimed at forging a strategic partnership that supports the orientations of the Smart Madinah program.

This agreement will establish a cooperation framework to implement cutting-edge technology projects based on open source technologies, conduct government overload assessment to accelerate government cloud transformation, activate the incubator program for startups eligible for Medina.

It will also help develop the technical capacity of the government sector in Medina through a number of programs on executive training and digital trainings.

The agreements signed included a number of national private companies, such as Takamol Business Services (Platinum Sponsor), Thiqah Business Services (Platinum Sponsor), in addition to Gotrah Ventures and Resal for Rewards and Loyalty.

The agreements were signed on the sidelines of events held at the Al-Madinah pavilion at the Smart Cities exhibition, in Barcelona, ​​Spain, where MDA is managing it in collaboration with a number of government and private agencies, including the Ministry of the Interior and the Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, and within the framework of a strategic partnership with the Digital Government Authority. — SPA
