Madrid ranked among the best cities in the world and described as ‘the European dream’

Various lists have ranked Madrid as one of the best cities in the world, and it has even been described as “the European dream” thanks to its lifestyle and beauty.

In 2021, Madrid received the prestigious title of UNESCO Cultural Landscape. It has also been named best travel destination (World Travel Awards), best city to visit at Christmas (eBooking), best destination (Time magazine) and the ninth best investment destination (Urban Strategies at the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan) – in other words, Madrid has a long list of such titles.

Fourth best city destination

On January 14, market research firm Euromonitor International ranked Madrid fourth in its list of the ten best city destinations in the world. It arrives behind Paris, Dubai and Amsterdam, but ahead of Rome, Berlin, New York, London and Barcelona. It was also in first place for durability.

Best city for a getaway in Spain

On January 12, the Musement portal ranked Madrid as the best city in Spain for an interesting getaway. Musement assessed all the capitals of the provinces of Spain and analyzed the number of points of interest and museums, the quality of restaurants, the weather and the accessibility and connectivity via means of transport. Madrid took first place thanks to its enormous cultural offer and the “authentic paradise” of its gastronomy.

Tenth best city in the world

World’s Best Cities 2022 places Madrid in tenth place out of one hundred cities in the world. It recognizes the distinction granted to the city by UNESCO, as well as the investments made in social housing and equitable development within the framework of the Madrid Nuevo Norte urban redevelopment project.

The “European dream”

On January 13, the FinancialTimes described the Plaza de Olavide as a “European dream” thanks to its lifestyle, beauty and warm autumn sun.
